Hip Halloween 2019 with Party City – Cocktails by C
HipNJ’s Lisa Marie Latino talked with Mix And Mingle’s Brooke Polller and Jessica Silverstein to discuss all the elements and decor you need in throwing your own Halloween party.
One of the most important elements is cocktails. Poller and Silverstein’s go to for cocktails is award winning mixologist Carlos Ruiz. His love for cocktails began at a young age when he was mesmerized by the history of alcohol. At just the age of 20 he was named “Mixologist of the Year” in the New Jersey Restaurant & Hospitality Association. He is dedicated in making inventive cocktails, not just the fun of the mill basic drinks. Ruiz focuses on the molecular mixology of this drinks and enhancing the flavor profile.
Halloween is a busy time of year for Ruiz, but we were able to see first hand how he makes his signature Hocus Pocus drink. To start, he uses ¾ quarter of an ounce of fresh lime juice. He uses all fresh ingredients for natural flavor. Then, he uses ¾ quarter of an ounce of blue rubber agave for sweetener. He also uses a mixture of beets, ginger, and blood orange for flavor and it gives a cool color! He adds 2 ounces of this mixture. Lastly, he adds 2 ounces of tequila and tops it off with ice.
This master mixologist brings specialty cocktails to people’s homes or events. He travels all throughout New Jersey, New York, and wherever he’s wanted!
