School Staff Prevents Entry of Suspicious Person
Evesham Township Police School Resource Officers arrested a man who was attempting to enter Cherokee High School on September 4. 29 year-old Fidel Medina Jr. of Hamilton, NJ had been previously arrested for trespassing on school property. Police say Medina suffers from mental health issues They say he arrived at Cherokee High School with the intention of picking up an 18-year-old student who does not attend the school. The school staff recognized the man who was attempting to enter the school through the locked vestibule. School Staff members quickly alerted ETPD School Resource Officers who stopped Medina from gaining entry into the building.
After police searched his vehicle, police say they seized a taser, pepper-spray, rope and other suspicious materials. Evesham Investigators conducted a search of Medina’s Hamilton Township home, at which time additional items were seized. Further investigation revealed that there is no connection between the subject or any individual at the high school. Fidel Medina Jr. was charged with 3rd degree Defiant Trespass and 2nd degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He was transported to a mental health facility for an evaluation.
