Mike Favetta is a New York Emmy Award-winning Meteorologist.He is a graduate of Kean University with a degree in meteorology. Mike interned at WABC during college and got his start at News 12 New Jersey after graduation. He began on-air as a meteorologist in April 2007 at News 12 Traffic and Weather. Favetta is a member of the American Meteorological Society which sealed him as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist in 2010. Favetta is passionate about weather research and technology, and enjoys taking that information and presenting it in a way that makes for a more interesting weathercast. In 2015, Favetta won a New York Emmy for his weather contribution to the Brooklyn Midday Newscast after the February 14th snowstorm. He also has received 4 NY Emmy nominations in Weather Talent. Favetta displayed his creative ability to hundreds of meteorologists from across the country as the keynote speaker at the National Weather Association annual Broadcaster’s Conference. Favetta also has a minor in Italian studies, and reads, writes and speaks Italian fluently, having lived in Florence, Italy for a time in college.
